Othman Lazraq
Director of the Fondation Alliances and President of the Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden (MACAAL), Marrakech
Othman Lazraq is an associate architect of Lazraq Studio firm, Director of Fondation Alliances since 2013, a not-for-profit association which focuses on supporting cultural development in Morocco, and President of the Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden (MACAAL), Marrakech, since its inauguration in 2016. MACAAL is an independent, not-for-profit contemporary art museum which houses the Lazraq family’s extensive collection and is committed to ensuring the engagement of the Moroccan public through their exhibition programme and cultivating the interest of the younger generations through their education initiatives. As a collector, Othman Lazraq works closely with the museum team to enrich the collection, in conjunction with external counsel. His passion for photography motivated him to found in 2013 the Lcc Program, an annual award supporting contemporary African photography for which he is chairman of the jury.
